Flat2VR Studios closed out this year's VR Games Showcase with its biggest reveal of the day: an official VR version of System Shock, built in partnership with original developer Nightdive Studios. The announcement covers Meta Quest, PlayStation VR2, and SteamVR, with the game now wishlistable across all three storefronts.
It's a full-circle moment for the studio — Flat2VR's community got its start modding System Shock into VR years before this project existed, and this marks the first time that work is turning into an official release rather than a fan patch. No release date has been set yet, and Nightdive's acclaimed 2023 remake, which has continued receiving updates as recently as March of this year, will serve as the foundation for the port.
The reveal capped a showcase that also included a VR conversion of High On Life and a new PlayStation VR2 publishing push from Impact Inked.
